managing the operation of the Island

the work of staff and volunteers
- supervising
and training new rangers in practical skills

the budget in cooperation with the area manager
- ensuring
that the visitors to the Island have a good and safe time while
on the Island
- running
the Island nursery
- along
with Barbara, ensuring the health and wellbeing of the birds on
the Island
I
have
- worked
as a carpenter in the building trade
- been
a lighthouse keeper for 29 years
- trained
in nursery work with the Lands and Survey Department
- propagated
and raised the 280,000 trees that have been planted on Tiritiri
as part of the reafforestation programme

Each day when
the ferry arrives, I welcome visitors to the island
Each fortnight
I organise supplies to be brought to the island on the Hauturu which
then takes away all the island's rubbish
I
have a strong interest in conservation and in the education
of the public in practical hands-on conservation |
