Japan is fulfilling its international responsibilities in keeping with its economic strength by working with other nations in a variety of ways for the peace and prosperity of the world .

Its relations with other countries focus on:

    1. Working to peacefully resolve conflicts around the world
    2. Promoting arms control and stopping the spread of nuclear weapons
    3. Making sure that the world's economy will keep growing stronger
    4. Cooperating with developing countries to improve their economic and social conditions
    5. Dealing with global issues, such as protecting the environment and slowing down population growth

Also, many Japanese people go abroad, either through a government agency or as members of NGOs (non-governmental organizations), to work on projects in different developing countries to raise technology levels and living standards.

Japan has been very actively building friendly relations with foreign countries. More and more Japanese people are going abroad, and the number of foreign people visiting Japan has risen, too.
