Process:   

 1. Make a folder on the Student Disk to save your group's work in. Make more folders inside the group folder to organise your work efficiently.

2. Make a critical path plan of the jobs you need to do, and the time you need to do them. The jobs are:

select your roles in the group
do your research
plan your slideshow content
collect pictures for slideshow, and URLs
do diagrams and drawings
decide on your message
write your letter
make the slideshow
practise the presentation

3. Do your background research, both from links here, and from the books in the library. You must understand what a rainforest is, and where they are found in the world:

If you want to research something particular on the internet, make an appointment to work with Miss Currie. You must have your teacher's permission first.

4. Look at this guide for making a slideshow presentation. The journalist and photographer should go through every part of it, and show the others any parts that are important for them to know.

The journalist should then print out the slideshow guide for this webquest. File it away carefully, because it tells you exactly what should be on every page of the slideshow.

5. Each member of the group should now be working on their own part of the presentation, following the instructions specific to their own role in the group, and doing their own research.

6. Work together, and agree on what the main message of the slideshow and the letter should be. You must all agree on what you want to say. Here are some letters written by other children in the world.

7. Put together the slideshow.

8. Write the letter. Make sure you follow the rules for writing a formal letter.

7. You will now plan and practise the oral presentation.   You will use your slideshow as an aid for your presentation.  Make sure all questions in the task are addressed, and that every member of the group does some of the speaking.
