Eclipse Expeditions: 1858-1918

On August 11, 1999, the Exploratorium will present a live Webcast of the final total solar eclipse of the millennium.

A joint expedition by the Exploratorium and NASA, correspondents will be stationed along the path of totality, sharing images, interviews, and other information about the eclipse with museum visitors and an Internet audience. The main vantage point for the expedition will be Amasya, Turkey.

In 1998, the Exploratorium Webcast the February 26 eclipse live from the Caribbean island of Aruba. Portions of the Exploratorium's satellite feed were picked up and broadcast on television. CNN, ABC, NBC, BBC, Fox, and others carried our images. Over 100,000 people visited this site on February 26, 1998.
