Rainforest Slideshow!
Raising cattle for beef is another thing that destroys the rainforest. Here is a picture of a cattle ranch that used to be a rainforest. What happens is that ranchers slash and burn the forest to clear the land and grow grass. They then bring cows to eat this grass and then the cows get butchered and sent to our own country as meat that gets put into fast food hamburgers and canned pet food.
We eat so much red meat here in the United States that we need to go get more of it from rainforest countries and that's one big reason the rainforests are being destroyed. If everyone in the United States ate less red meat, we wouldn't need more of it from rainforest countries, and that would help save the rainforests.
