Introduction:

Greenpeace is very worried about the tropical rainforests of South America. More than half the different species of animals in the world live in rainforests, and if the rainforests are destroyed, the animals will die out, and become extinct.

Every day, more of these rainforests are chopped down for timber, and the land cleared to grow grass, and raise cattle. This is so that people in countries all over the world can eat the beef in cheap hamburgers sold by fast food chains.

Greenpeace are paying you (a group of scientists) to travel to the rainforests, and learn everything you can about the delicate food web that exists there. You must come back and persuade New Zealanders to preserve areas of rainforest, and save the lives of the animals that live in them.
