Komei School for the Physically Handicapped
The things we do differently from other schools

Distinctive Features

For students, computers are important tools that allow them to express themselves and communicate with others outside of school. Students at Komei have a wide range of other interests, and there are some who are quite accomplished in such areas as sports and the arts. Read about these students and the special activities they are involved in.

Short Letters

In their Japanese class, the students of group five were challenged to write the shortest letters possible on the theme of "feelings." They were to write a message to a parent, a friend, or even themselves using a limited number of characters. While the students found it hard to express their feelings using just a few words, the result was some interesting letters.

Shinya Ishizuka

To you,
I'm so glad we met; I could die at peace right now.
I'm really glad we met.
To you,
Thank you so much for meeting the me that cannot move.
Saeko Kono
I had a dream. It was about you, and it moved my heart.
But the reality is different; you are so far away.
Recently my phone does not ring.
My heart is crying.

Satomi Yoshida
To my father,
The sound of the rain is lonely, but perhaps it is just my feeling after we argued. I love the taste of Mom's cheesecake, and I can't wait to eat it again soon.
Yukio Nakamura
You always scold me, saying things like, "Why are you doing that?"
Why only me?
Thank you for working so hard, carrying your bag and drenched in sweat.
What should I buy with your salary, dad?
Yukari Kaneko
You say you're so busy, but how about paying some attention to me?
I've been waiting for a long time.
I was very happy when I received praise from you for doing my best.
Atsushi Kikukawa
My heart pounds when I hear the mail put into our mailbox, because I think it might be a letter from you.
Tomoyuki Abe
To my friend, on the day that I spend alone because I was not able to keep our promise and go on the trip. Today I am so lonely.
Fumio Okada
To myself, I get irritated with myself, who cannot think of anything.
Sachie Shima
Father and daughter both with fractured bones . . . it is painful but also funny, so there is nothing to do but laugh.
