DAILY LIFE

Take a look at how kids spend their time when not in the spotlight.

Kageaki Yamanaka

"My father's noh stage is about a five-minute walk from our house, so I drop by on my way home from school every day. I love playing computer games; I own about 100 games for Game Boy. My dad calls me a game freak. I also love reading manga and watching anime.

Kageaki's family. His father Gasho is a teacher of the kanze school of noh.

"When I'm outside, I like playing with radio-controlled cars. I'm a big collector; I've got boxes of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and a huge batch of sake bottle caps.

"My favorite subject in school is art. I made a really cool maze the other day. I also like Japanese, math, and music, but I can't stand ethics.

The family enjoy time together.

"If I were to go to a foreign country I'd like to visit Belgium. That's because there was a Belgian student staying with us to learn about noh until just recently. It seems like a really neat country. I also want to play the roulette at a casino. My grandfather bought a toy roulette game for me, and so I know how to play. Some day I'd like to play in a real casino.

"I'm fairly wealthy for a kid my age because I get an allowance of 5,000 yen each time I have a performance. There's about 600,000 yen in the bank in my name, but I lent a lot to my father the other day, so there's not much left!"
