When a calf runs into the arena, it is scared, and running as fast as it can to escape. When it is caught by a rope around its neck, it suffers terrible injuries to the throat and back even before it is thrown to the ground and held down. Does it hurt the calf? Yes it does, and even rodeo people admit that.

Calves are only ever used once in a rodeo, because they are so badly injured they can't be used again. They are usually shot. |
