Battery farming is cruel

Do you know what sort of life the hen that lays eggs for you has? Most of the eggs you buy come from battery hens.

Battery hens look like the one being held to your left. They have their beaks cut off, and live in tiny little cages for the whole of their life. They often lose feathers, like this one.

If you scroll down the page, you can see what it looks like inside a battery, where hens are just treated like a factory to produce eggs.

Some people think that the eggs that are produced like this are not healthy, because the hens themselves are not healthy. They prefer to buy eggs from free range hens, where the hens are allowed to live a normal life outside, pecking for their food on the ground.

The trouble is, these eggs often cost more to buy, because it costs the farmer less to produce eggs if he uses the battery method.
