Heroes are found in ancient myths and legends as people who have almost superhuman abilities. They may be based on real people who were made into legends.
	Herakles (also called Hercules) is one of the most popular Greek heroes. He was the son of Zeus (king of the gods) and a mortal mother. He had amazing strength and physical ability, performing difficult tasks and defeating fierce enemies throughout his life.
