It is thought that 92 000 people died on Indonesia in 1815 when this eruption happened. Huge ash falls buried many of them. Others died later from starvation because crops and farmland were smothered

Steamboat geyser
Water and steam spurting from the Steamboat geyser in the USA reaches a height of 115 metres (125 yards). The Waimangu geyser in New Zealand used to shoot over 460 metres (over 500 yards), but it has not erupted for nearly 100 years.
