The Diamond Story - part 4

There are three ways to first cut a diamond rough. You can saw it, cleave it (or cut it into smaller bits), or cut it with a laser. This work is done by a very skilled person called a cutter. A cutter who makes a mistake can ruin a very valuable diamond, and make it worth nothing!

After sawing or cleaving the diamond goes to the girdler who gives the diamond its shape. Diamonds, like other gemstones, can be cut in all sorts of shapes. Then the Blocker and the Brillianteer polishes and gives the diamond all the facets that make it sparkle in the light. A Diamond can mostly be cut and polished in 1 day.

The diamonds then travel all over the world to be sold.
