Airline meals

Food is usually served on long flights, but many short flights these days do not serve meals. The food is cooked and packed on the ground, and put into trays inside big metal trolleys.

These trolleys are loaded on the plane (see them being loaded on the Home Page of this stack!)

On board the plane they can be heated and served to passengers. Since September 11, many airlines only have plastic knives to cut the food.
