The part of the truck where the driver spends his time is called the cab. This cab is of a very small, rather old truck. You can see that it is fairly low compared with big trucks, and the seat is not very comfortable for long journeys. |
In America, truck drivers of big long-haul trucks often have a sleeper berth, or bed, in the back of their cab. They may be driving for days on end, and they have to take rests. They can't keep driving all the time, or they could fall asleep at the wheel. |
A truck cab sits very high off the road. The driver has to have all the instruments he needs to use close at hand. This is what he sees when he sits in his driver's seat. |
