....what is a mummy?

When important people in Ancient Egypt died, their body was made into a mummy. It was dried out, painted with oils, and soft organs like the brain, and heart and liver were removed.

These were put into special jars.

Then the body was wrapped in bandages soaked in special ointments, to preserve it before it was put in the tomb.

The Egyptians believed it would come back to life one day, and that is why they put furniture, and clothes and food in the tomb with the mummy.
