Brad Butterworth

Profession/Trade: Sailmaker/Yachtsman

Role: Tactician

Age: 40

One of New Zealand's most famous and successful sailors, Team New Zealand tactician Brad Butterworth has won many sailing trophies in the past 21 years.

His wins include the Admiral's Cup, the Whitbread Round The World Race, the Kenwood Cup and, of course, the America's Cup in 1995.

Butterworth was aboard KZ-7 when New Zealand first challenged for the America's Cup in Perth, Western Australia, in 1987. Since then he has become a vital member of Team New Zealand's afterguard, responsible for calling the shots on the water. This is his fourth America's Cup.

He is one of the few sailors who can boast to having taken first or second place in nearly every first class yacht race he has competed in.

He is married to Maree and they have two daughters, Amber and Claudia.
