Race 5 was supposed to start on Saturday, but the day was so calm, and the winds so shifty, that the Chief Race Officer, Harold Bennett, called it off again. The first boat to cross the start line was Alinghi, and they led all the way around the course, to cross the finish line ahead of Team New Zealand. When the reporters talked to Russell Coutts, he said that he was still a New Zealander, but he was very proud to have won the America's Cup for Switzerland. When the reporters talked to Dean Barker, he said that the better team had won the cup, but he was still very proud of his team and how hard they had worked. "I wouldn't want to be in another team," he said.

Down at the viaduct, people cheered for the Alinghi team, as they were presented with the cup, which they filled with champagne to drink (and to spray at each other). So New Zealand now says goodbye to the America's Cup. It will now be kept in Geneva, in the land-locked country of Switzerland. We held the cup for eight years, but no more.
