Fuel cell diagramGood choice! For many years, NASA has produced water by combining hydrogen and oxygen in a fuel cell, using a process called electrolysis. Fuel cells not only produce drinking water, they also produce electricity, so they are very valuable on a space station.

But to make water this way, you have to bring oxygen and hydrogen into space. There's an easier way—what is it?
