In the house

Hot liquids and hot gases are carried upwards because they are lighter than cold liquids or gases.

So you would find it is hotter near the ceiling than it is near the floor. That is because the hot air is rising up until it is stopped by the ceiling.

If you wanted to cool down your classroom, you would open the top windows, so that the hottest air (which is at the top) went out the windows.
