Playgrounds in the past

A hundred years ago, if you went outside your classroom, your playground might have looked like this.

Schools did not have adventure playgrounds, or slides and climbing frames.

The children made their own games, and climbed trees, and paddled in streams.

If they did have things to play with, they would be simple things like the metal hoops from barrels.

Children used to take these from barrels that had fallen apart, and roll them along the ground with a stick.
