Tokelau

Tokelau is hard to get to. It has no airport, no capital city, no harbour, no cars.

One boat arrives from Samoa, but it only comes once a month. It carries lots of supplies for the islands.

Tokelau from the air

There are 127 islands in Tokelau, but they are all very very small, and very low.

If global warming raises the sea level, the islands could be swamped.

The islands are not independent - they are run by New Zealand.

In the schools, the children learn English as their second language.
