Niue

Niue is sometimes called the Rock of Polynesia. It does not have lots of beaches - the coast is steep rocky cliffs.

A few planes fly into Niue, but most of the supplies they need come by boat.

This is a house beside the road, on Niue. Because the island is so small and so isolated, it is hard for people to find work.

Many people from Niue leave the island, and come to work in New Zealand.

There are many coconut palms on Niue, as in all the islands of Polynesia.

One thing to look out for is the coconut crab - it is very big and gives you a bit of a fright!

There is very good diving in the water around Niue. The water is warm to swim in, and very clear, so you can see fish very well.
