(AO 8) Within a range of technological areas and contexts, students should explore and compare the roles of some example of technology in daily life in their own and another time or place

Students talk to older members of their families about catching predator or pests in the past (ie rat traps, fly paper, fly swats etc)

Students find out if any local areas are being protected from pests and how this is done

Read Conservation, Endangered plants and Weeds and plant pests.

  1. Tonight at home ask someone older if they know about a trap to catch mice, rats or goats.

    1. Ask them to:

      • tell you what it looks like so you can draw it here

         



      • describe how it was used

      • rate how good it was as a trap - circle your choice

        1 excellent

        2 good

        3 OK

        4 not very good

        5 poor


    2. Ask them if they used any of these. (Give them a rating using the scale above.)
