Locusts live all over the world, prefering to live in warm climates. Locusts like to live where there is vegetation, shelter and warmth. Like all insects, locusts are cold-blooded. This means they are as cold or as warm as the air around them.

When the temperature rises, they are more active. In the heat of a sunny day, they may sit so that less of their body area is exposed to the sun. This helps them no to over-heat. As the sun is going down they will turn side on, facing their body so that it gets as much of the sun's rays as possible. They live mostly among grass, plants or flowers. |
