Even today, insects are very popular in Japan. Dragonflies are everywhere in summer, and it is considered lucky if one lands on you. If you hold out your thumb long enough, they will sometimes land on it!

But the most popular insects are beetles. In summer holidays, you see lots of children running round with nets, trying to catch rhino or stag beetles to keep as pets.

They are so popular you can even buy them from department stores. Some cost $10, but some cost right up to more than $500!
