Johann  Pestalozzi invented the idea of 'Object lessons'. We had to learn about the things that we saw in our world. Each child had the 'object' and had to use their senses to describe it. Pestalozzi believed that it was better than learning from a book or simply being told. Click on Dolly to find out more.

I work in a Ragged School as a pupil teacher. Ragged Schools were for poor children living mainly in cities, but there were such schools in smaller towns. Children were taught the 4 R's ... Reading, Writing, Arithmetic and Religion. This section has some source materials for you to think about.
