CHARLES A. LINDBERGH (1902-1974)

Charles Lindbergh was born in Detroit and lived his childhood in Little Falls, Minnesota. Charles learned how to fly at age 20.

In 1926 he heard of a $25,000 prize offered for the first solo Atlantic flight. St. Louis businessmen helped Charles accomplish just that. On May 20, 1927, Charles left Long Island. He arrived in Paris on May 21. He had flown 5,800 km in 33 1/2 hours. Charles returned home a hero.
