JAMES COOK (1728-1779)

James Cook lived from 1728 to 1779. He was a great explorer because of how he used science and mathematics to help him with cartography. He enlisted in the English navy in 1775, and during most of his time in the navy, he served as a surveyor. Later on, he was summoned by the Royal Society to go on three major voyages.
