Hi everyone!

We are in Italy at the moment, and have been travelling up from Sorrento for the last week. Unfortunately it rained the whole time we were in Sorrento. Up to Rome and had an absolutely awesome time. We spent two days there. The first day we went to the Vatican Museum which was out of this world. The art work is just incredible. Corridors and corridors that seem to go for miles. The most beautiful frescos by Raphael. Stood for ages looking at them. Then into the Sistine Chapel, where it is so spectacular it brings you to tears. A nun fell to her knees with emotion!

After that we went to the Colosseum, which was also incredible. Went inside the Colosseum and had a good look around. Also went to the Trevi Fountain and tossed in a coin for a quick return to Rome. The next day ... yes that was all in one day... we went to a mass in Saint Peters square which was taken by the Pope himself. Thousands and thousands of people there. Probably around 30 to 50 thousand people with an atmosphere similar to Eden Park... no kidding!

A sculpture shop in Florence

That afternoon we went on a free guided tour around and inside St Peters church.. It is huge!!! St Pauls in London can fit inside and there'd still be room. It is 204 metres in length! Words can't explain how beautiful it is inside either. You have to see to believe!!

We met an American couple on the tour of St Peters. It turns out he works at Universal Studios, and has told us to give him a ring when we get to LA and he will get us in for free and show us around behind the scenes!!

We are now in Florence and have been to the Duomo which is amazing as well. I'm beginning to run out of words to describe things! This is our second day here. We are going to try and see Michaelangelo's David sculpture today if we can get in. We have been shopping at the leather markets too.

Lots of love to you all

Hi everyone!

As you can see we are in Switzerland at the moment. It is very beautiful here. Clean and green, snow capped hills, fresh air and very picturesque. We are in Lucerne which is supposed to be "the real Switzerland". We went up a mountain called Pilatus, 2000 metres above sea level. Went up on a train, which is the steepest in the world. Fantastic views from the top. Cold though. A bit scary coming down on a cable car packed with 40 other tourists!

On the way down stopped off in a small area where an Octoberfest was going on. Lovely atmosphere with the brass band and everyone swaying side to side with the music! We've got another night here before we go on to Munich, so it was a bit of a warm up before we get there!

The leaning tower at Pisa
One of the villages at Cinque Terre

Since the last time I wrote we travelled up from Florence and stopped in at Pisa for the obligitory photos, then we stayed a night in Cinque Terre. A group of five small fishing villages on the Mediterannean coast of Italy. Very nice there.

Then we caught a train up from Cinque Terre to Lauterbrunen in Switzerland. That took us 12 hours, arriving in Lauterbrunen at 10 at night. Lauterbrunen is a small village at the foot of Junghau mountain, the tallest peak in Europe at around 3000 metres. Didn't go up there though because of the weather. Switzerland is quite expensive, but luckily we are only spending five days here. Tomorrow we are going shopping for swiss army knives and chocolate.

Lots of love to you all.
