Opera is very popular in Italy. Have you heard of the three tenors? Perhaps you could persuade your teacher to let you listen to one of their songs, so you get an idea of what they sound like!

These are some of the wonderful theatres that people go to so they can listen to opera.

  

Italy is full of wonderful paintings too. This one is called Madonna of the Magnificat, and it was painted by a man called Botticelli, in around 1490. That makes it a very old painting, but it is still amazing to look at. If you would like to see some interesting modern art by Italian artists, click here.

And just for fun, look at these wonderful medieval flag wavers! They wave and throw these huge flags backwards and forwards. Did you see some of them on TV when they visited New Zealand during the America's Cup, at the invitation of the Prada syndicate?
