Toad in the hole

Sometimes this dish is called sausages in a blanket instead! It comes from Yorkshire, and the batter that the sausages are cooked in is called Yorkshire pudding.

Ingredients

8 sausages
7/8 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup warmish milk
2 eggs
1/2 cup water

Method

Prick the sausages, and lay out in an oven dish.

Bake at 150 degrees C for half an hour.

Beat the eggs in a bowl, then add water.

In another bowl, sift in the flour and salt, and mix the milk in.

Then add the eggs and water, and beat until large bubbles form. Leave the mixture to sit while the sausages are cooking.

Take the sausages out, and turn the oven up to 200 degrees C.

Pour the batter over the sausages in the oven dish, and return to the oven for half an hour at 200 degrees.

Take out, eat and enjoy - with lashings of tomato sauce!
