You may need to change the position of the 'line' to show the audience another part of the scene. The audience will understand this if you include a shot where the camera moves across the original line.

Here, we've used an arc shot, which is difficult to do well. If you have a suitable trolley, you could use a combination of sideways tracking and pan, which may be easier.
