Patricia Grace

Patricia Grace was born in Wellington in 1937. She is of Ngati Raukawa, Ngati Toa and Te Ati Awa descent. She has taught in primary and secondary schools in the King Country, Northland and Porirua. She now lives in Plimmerton. She is married with seven children.

She attended St. Mary's College from 1950-1959, and then went to Wellington Teachers' College, 1955-1957. In her spare time she enjoys reading, fishing, and walking. Addresses: Office: c/o Penguin Books, Private Bag 102902, North Shore Mail Centre, Auckland, New Zealand.

She has taught in primary and secondary schools in King Country, Northland, and Porirua, until 1984. During 1985 she spent time at Victoria University, Wellington, as a writing fellow, and in 1986 she gave up teaching to write full time.

She has written two children's books, illustrated by Robyn Kahukiwa: The Kuia and the Spider (1981) and Watercress Tuna and the Children of Champion Street (1984).
