Konnichiwa

Over here things are getting pretty cold. The Japanese people are in their winter clothes and I am in my spring clothes. It is cooler but not that cold. Apparently it gets coldest in January and February. Karna is still training in his rugby shorts and a t shirt and people think he is crazy.

Japan in the winter - very very cold!

They have just finished their national sports tournament over here and all the children get time off school to help out. The teachers go to school but we pretty much have nothing to do so I watched the High School basketball and it was awesome.

Last weekend was our school festival. There were not a lot of entertaining groups - more food and games. The brass band here are awesome and I watched them four times. You would be amazed at them.

We have just bought a car, a little Mazda Autozam like the bubble car I used to have. We bought it for about 1600 NZ dollars. If a car has a scratch on it over here you can cut the price in half. They have instant paint job repair places so that their cars will not look ugly. Cars in NZ would not even stand a chance. They leave perfectly good cars at junk yards when in NZ we could still sell them for a bit of money. Our car has a 660 motor in it and they call it a K car. It has yellow plates and costs cheaper to run and to drive over the expressways to other parts of Japan.

During New Years we are going to Hiroshima which will be really strange and exciting and then in March we are going to the Hong Kong Sevens. It will be fantastic. After those two trips we will save again and maybe go to Thailand and Russia. We want to also go to Tokyo Disneyland..

The queues at Tokyo Disneyland!

Sayonara,
Mrs Luke.
