A13. The J. League is divided into two divisions, Division One (J1) and Division Two (J2). At the end of each season, the bottom two teams in J1 are automatically relegated to J2, while the top two teams in J2 are promoted to J1. There are currently 16 teams in J1 and 12 teams in J2.
