Kids Use Same Facilities as Stars

Taio Sports Center in Nakatsue Village, Oita Prefecture - where the Cameroon World Cup team stayed - is proving a popular training-camp destination for sports teams from all over the island of Kyushu. On June 19, 50 first- and second-year students of Oki Gakuen Ryutokukan Junior High School in the city of Fukuoka arrived at the center for a four-day stay. They practiced sports during their time at the center.

Shunsuke Hase, director of Taio Sports Center, greeted the kids by saying: "The Cameroon players were wonderful sportsmen. They practiced earnestly and honestly. I hope that you will also train with the same spirit."

Yusaku Matsuoka, a second-year member of the school's golf club, was thrilled: "I'm so happy that we have the chance to train in the same place where top sports players stayed. I hope to learn something about playing sport before I go home."

The center can be used by groups of 10 people or more both for sports and education. Having become famous for hosting the Cameroon team, the center is fully booked until August. (Nishinippon Shimbun)
