Messages from All the Students

The students of Nushima Middle School told us in their own words about their thoughts, their interests, and their dreams for the future.

First-Year Students

Rina Nakabashi
There are few students at the school, so the teachers can really teach us well.

Miho Hirai
My monthly allowance is ¥2,000 ($16 U.S.). I use it to buy CDs, stationery, and books. Two or three times a month I go to Awajishima to shop.

Nozomi Asama
When I entered middle school, my parents told me to study hard. I like surfing the Internet, reading comics, and listening to CDs.

Tomomi Hamabe
My favorite sport is swimming. In the summer we had fun pushing each other off the diving board at the swimming area by the sea.

Yuji Ishii
We eat fish almost every day, so I want to eat meat sometimes. I want to be a shogi player in the future.

Masaharu Aoishi
In the summer my family is really busy with fishing, so I help out about one day a week.

Kazuya Kawaguchi
My favorite sport is baseball, and my dream is to become rich.

Second-Year Students

Erina Adachi
I went with some of the other kids from school to visit big cities like Osaka and Kobe. It was a lot of fun.

Mami Hamabe
My favorite class at school is music. The place where I feel most comfortable is my room at home.

Yui Nakamoto
I want to get a job where I use English. After I graduate from high school, I want to go to Los Angeles.

Koji Hayami
The soft tennis club is fun, and I like school, but I hate studying.

Yoshitsugu Kosui
My favorite subject at school is science.

Takuya Matsumoto
The people of Nushima are bound by strong bonds right from the time they are born.

Mitsuhiro Hayashi
I'm studying calligraphy by correspondence course.

Masato Koizumi
The sports I'd like to try playing are American football, wrestling, and curling.

Third-Year Students

Chiko Aoishi
I chose a high school on Awajishima that is easy to get to from Nushima. I like listening to music and watching videos.

Hideyuki Ishii
I'm the captain of the tennis club, so I keep going to the practices even though I'm no longer a player. I like walking on Nushima's mountain paths and enjoying the view.

Yuki Gamoto
My parents work in the fishing industry, but I'll probably leave Nushima. At school I like science and math. I study for three hours every day.

Shogo Matsumoto
I like playing sports, so I'm a member of Nushima's soccer team. I like baseball, too. Nushima is great because life is free and easy.

Mika Koizumi
My parents go out to fish while I'm still sleeping, so it's hard to help out. In the future, I'd like to travel abroad.

Shintaro Ito
I plan on becoming a fisherman just like my father. The sport I'd like to try playing is sumo. I like professional wrestling, too.
