Let's retrace our steps back to Kagoshima and then head for Motobu Port in Okinawa by boat. The islands that stretch for 1,200 kilometers in an arc from the south of Kyushu to Yonaguni Island right next to Taiwan are called the Nansei Islands. These islands include Amami Oshima, Tanegashima, Okinoerabujima, Tokunoshima, and Yoronto. There's regular ferry service to Okinawa from such mainland cities as Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Kobe, and Fukuoka, and Kagoshima.
