On September 4 Tokyo DisneySea opened just next to Tokyo Disneyland. The main theme of this fun new park is legends and stories of the sea. At 71 hectares (175 acres) it has about the same area as Tokyo Disneyland. What makes DisneySea special is that the theme of the sea runs all the way through the park. Tokyo DisneySea is divided into seven ports. As you enter the park, right in front of you is Mediterranean Harbor. It is like an old port in southern Europe. The volcano Mount Prometheus can be seen towering opposite the harbor. Moving around to the left, you arrive at American Waterfront, where you can experience New York from the early twentieth century. The DisneySea Electric Railway takes you smoothly from here to Port Discovery, which is lined with original, futuristic buildings. Next to Port Discovery lies Lost River Delta, where you will encounter the mysteries of an ancient civilization. This is where one of the park's most popular attractions, the Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull, is located. The next area is Arabian Coast, which recreates the fantasy world of 1001 Arabian Nights. After that comes Mermaid Lagoon, where you can meet Ariel, the star of the movie The Little Mermaid, and her friends. This area is especially popular with girls. Last comes the adventure-packed Mysterious Island. The popular attraction Journey to the Center of the Earth, in which you explore the center of the earth on fantastic vehicles designed by Captain Nemo, can be found here. An eighth-grade boy who has been to DisneySea was most impressed by the Indiana Jones Adventure. "Riding on a car around ancient ruins at top speed was amazing. It felt just like I was really in the movie world of Indy," he said. A sixth-grade girl said, "The Jumpin' Jellyfish at Mermaid Lagoon was great fun. It felt like my body was really floating up and down. It was really relaxing." The fun of DisneySea is not just in the rides. One visitor said, "They have Gyoza Sausage Buns (gyoza is a Chinese dumpling), Yucatan Sausage Rolls, cappuccino-flavored popcorn. . . .
