Trip to Hiroshima

At the end of World War II, Americans dropped atom bombs on two Japanese cities, Nagasaki and Hiroshima, destroying them utterly, and killing thousands of ordinary Japanese people.

This is the last of the old buildings to remain from before the blast.

There was nothing left of most of the people at the centre of the blast, but the bodies of people further away were gathered together and cremated here.

The people of Japan have made this part of Hiroshima into a Peace Park, to tell people how important it is to not kill each other in wars. Mrs Luke is standing by the Peace bell.
