Attack on America
.

On September 11, 2001, two hijacked American domestic planes were flown straight into the twin towers of the World Trade building.

When they collapsed, thousands of people were still inside. Days later searchers were still looking for survivors.

You can see what a difficult job that would be.

Sniffer dogs were used to smell for survivors, because their great sense of smell helps them find people buried in the rubble.

Some sniffer dogs were also used to check out vehicles coming near important buildings all over the world. Everyone was nervous that the terrorists might strike again.

This dog is protecting the American Embassy in Columbia.

Both rescuers and their dogs work long hard hours, and get very tired. This man and his dog are resting in New York, before they go back to work looking for survivors.
