Fur is Dead!

Animals on fur farms, like the minks above, lead horrible lives in small cages, and are then killed by gassing, electrocuting or poisoning them. Here you can see what it takes to make a glamorous mink coat.

If you wear fur, you are supporting cruel treatment of animals. The more rare and unusual the animal, and the fewer there are left in the wild, the more valuable the coat is.

By buying a fur coat, you are encouraging people to trap animals in cruel traps like these on the right. A fox caught in one of these traps may lie there in terrible pain for days until it dies. One out of every four animals caught like this will chew its own foot off to escape, only to die later from loss of blood.

If trappers find the animal while it is still alive, they will usually kill it by stomping on it, so that it is killed without damaging the valuable fur.
