Caring for her cat

Miss Tatana will care for her cat by keeping it healthy and safe. She will not let it roam around outside without knowing where it is. Many many cats get run over on our roads every year, and Miss Tatana doesn't want that to happen to her pet!

If the cat is in the garden, she will be playing with it. Cats are quite happy to live indoors most of the time, where they are warm and safe, and have everything they need. A cat that roams around outdoors is a danger to other cats, to birds, and it annoys other people. If you have a pet, you should know where it is.

Miss Tatana will not want her cat to kill birds. It is natural for cats to hunt, and you can't explain to them that you don't want them to kill birds. If you let your cat roam outside, they will kill birds, and that is why wild cats are such a threat to our endangered birds. If you keep your cat indoors, it will "hunt" toys, and bits of paper on a string that you make for playtimes.

All cats need to be groomed regularly. If you don't comb and brush their coat it will get into terrible tangles, especially if they have a long coat, like this cat.

Cats wash themselves with their rough tongues (ever noticed the difference between a cat licking you and a dog licking you?). But if they are not groomed regularly, they swallow too much hair, and end up choking on hairballs.

Miss Tatana will buy special combs and brushes, and look after her new cat's coat carefully.
