Pharaohs

Teti
Birth name: Teti
Horus name: Sehetepawy ("He who pacifies the Two Lands")
Rule: 2345 - 2333 BC (1st king of the 6th dynasty, Old Kingdom)
Noteworthy relatives: Pepi I (son), Iput (wife)

Teti "married into" royalty by taking the daughter of the previous pharaoh as his wife, thus begining the 6th dynasty. He and the other pharaohs of the 6th dynasty were based in Memphis and had their funeral monuments located in nearby Saqqara.

Manuscripts written by an ancient historian namd Manetho indicate that Teti was murdered by his own body guard! Although there is no real proof, there may have been a king named Userkare who ruled a very short time (less than a year) between Teti and his son Pepi I.
